We often get asked what our builders clean includes? It varies on a client per client basis, but generally speaking a typical checklist looks something like this:

Builders Cleaning checklist

Bathrooms

• Remove all debris, packaging etc. from the bath rooms.

• Thoroughly clean all bath tubs/wash basins/shower enclosures including ceramic and/or acrylic surrounds and remove all paint, grout, drywall filler etc. from the tubs and surrounds.

• Thoroughly clean all shower areas and remove all paint, drywall filler, grout etc. from the showers.

• Thoroughly clean all toilets and basins and remove all paint, drywall filler, grout etc. from the fixtures.

• Thoroughly clean all vanity tops where basins have been installed.

• Thoroughly clean bathroom floors and remove all paint, drywall filler, grout etc. from the floors.

• Thoroughly clean the interior of all windows and frames.

• Remove all paint, drywall filler, grout etc. from both the frames and the glass.

• Thoroughly clean all windows internally, window sills and casings.

• Toilet Seat Wiped down.

• Toilet Bowl to be disinfected by the application of a suitable disinfectant solution to each toilet in all the flats.

• Bath Panels to be wiped down.

• Vacuum and clear debris from the bathroom floor.

• Mop and dry the bathroom floors.

• Clean/wipe walls/switch plates/toilet roll holder/mixers/vents/lights

• Chrome taps and Mixers to be cleaned.

• Clean Inside Vanity Unit Cupboards

• Polish all vanity units including mirrors ensuring no finger marks are visible.

• Chrome Towel heaters to be cleaned and polished.

Kitchens, Living Areas, Dining Room, Reception Room, Playroom, Hallways and stairs.

• Remove all debris, packaging etc. from all areas of the kitchen

• Clean all passage and entry doors, both sides including hardware and including the removal of labels, protective covers, all paint, drywall filler, mastic, grout etc.

• Thoroughly clean all light fixtures.

• Thoroughly clean all the kitchen cabinetry inside and out including the top surface.

• Thoroughly clean the exterior and interior of all kitchen appliances (oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, stovetop)

• Clean all Stone worktops including all corners and glass splash back areas.

• Clean all plumbing fixtures including the removal of any paint, drywall filler, grout etc. from the fixtures

• Thoroughly clean fireplace/hearths/surrounds and chimney breasts to be wiped down.

• Fan Coil surrounds/grills to be wiped clean.

• Chrome taps and mixers to be cleaned and polished.

• Thoroughly clean all windows internally, including frames and sills.

• All frames, fibrous wall panels, dado rails to be dusted

• All mirrors to be cleaned ensuring no finger marks are visible.

• Clean/wipe walls/skirting, switch plates, lights, vents and smoke alarms

• All areas to be thoroughly dusted

• Clean wipe all joinery

• Clean wipe Stairs/spindles/handrails etc.

• Mop down and dry all stone floors and stairs.

• Polish stone floor and stairs

• Passenger and dumb waiter lift to be thoroughly cleaned inside and out, lift controls and internal finishes to be cleaned no visible finger marks to be left anywhere within the passenger lift

• All furniture to be cleaned

• All blinds to be dusted down (if applicable)

• Door Ironmongery to be cleaned and polished

Bedrooms, Dressing rooms

• Remove all debris, packaging, plastic coverings etc. from all areas of the individual wardrobe units.

• Clean all passage and entry doors, both sides including hardware and including the removal of labels, protective covers, all paint, drywall filler, grout etc.

• Thoroughly clean the interior of all windows, sills and frames.

• Thoroughly clean all light fixtures

• Thoroughly clean all the wardrobes inside and out including the top surface

• Thoroughly clean all shelves, cabinets and other joinery items

• Wardrobe doors and frames wiped externally and internally including drawers.

What Construction Cleaning Includes

Construction cleaning can not only include new home building but also renovation cleaning requirements. In the case of a ground-up new build, the construction cleaning process takes place in three stages. Depending on the extent of your project, you may only need some of these services performed.

Rough Interior Cleaning (optional)

This doesn’t mean we perform our cleaning roughly at this stage but is more of a preparatory clean. This is a cleaning process that is performed prior to construction being completed but before any carpets, floor coverings and final fit out has been completed. During the installation of these components, they can often be damaged if they are installed when the internals are still generally dirty which has a negative effect at handover.

Cleaning the spaces of a construction site prior to adding the final elements, such as floors, is important because it ensures that the final install is clean and secure. This type of construction site cleaning job generally includes all of the following:

• Sweeping and prepping floor underlayment for carpet

• Washing all interior windows

• Dusting surfaces

Final Interior Cleaning

Once the final elements are installed, a more thorough and detailed interior cleaning must take place. The details of this type of cleaning vary significantly from room to room. Kitchens and bathrooms, for example, include cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, and countertops that all need specialized care. However, a good final interior cleaning always includes a few key jobs:

Final Exterior Cleaning

This is usually the messiest part of our Builders Clean. For large renovations, additions, and new builds, messes happen both inside and outside the home. A final, thorough exterior cleanup prepares it for finishing stages such as landscaping and paving jobs, and generally increases the curb appeal of a home. This project stage may include:

• Removing protective film from windows and glass (Goop)

• Washing exterior windows and doors

• Sweeping and dusting any entry doorways

• Sweeping and/or power washing the driveway and any other paved surfaces

• Cleaning brickwork and hard surfaces i.e. gutter, fascia, eaves, patio tiles etc.

• Dusting all exterior lights
